My name is Laura Thomson and I was formerly a Lecturer in the School of Computer Science and IT at RMIT.

Teaching

In semester 2, 2005, I will be teaching Web Servers and Web Technology. Course homepage here.

In the past I have taught Programming Web Applications, Intro to Web Programming, Web Services, Software Engineering, and parts of Intelligent Web Systems and Web and Data Mining.

Advising

I am an advisor for the undergraduate Computer Science program (BP094) and for all local postgraduate coursework students. Students can see me without an appointment at the following times:
Tuesday 11-12
Thursday 1-2

Selection

I am the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Local Selection Officer for the School. I am assisted by Clemens Mayr for the undergraduate parts

My second book, "MySQL Tutorial", is now available from MySQL Press. My first book, "PHP and MySQL Web Development" is available from Sams in 3/e. If you liked it, the sequel ("PHP and MySQL Developer's Projects") is in the works, due out probably Christmas 2005.
