Risk calculator for the eye disease glaucoma

Background

Dr G.C. Sekhar from the LV Prasad Eye Institute in Indian has a data set collected on patients with the eye disease glaucoma, and normal eyes. In conjunction with A/Prof Ann Nicholson (Monash University), Dr Allison McKendrick (Uni. of Melbourne) and Dr Sekhar, we are applying Bayesian Network technology to examine risk factors for glaucoma.

Research Questions

• Can a tool be created that accurately predicts glaucoma form the input data provided?
• Is such a tool useful to clinicians?
• What would improve such a tool?

Student's Background Required

The project would involve programming in C, and scripting abilities.
