Discussion Board Instructions
This discussion board allows you to read and post items under a number
of different topics.
When you come to the board there are 3 buttons. The first of these is
a pull-down menu of topics. You make your selection here, then select
read to go to the topic you wish.
If you want to post a message in an existing topic, you first select
the topic, then select read and scroll to the bottom of that topic.
Starting new Topics
There are no nested threads/topics in this discussion board. If you want to
respond to a side issue in someone's posting, do so by starting a new
topic at the bottom of the screen, containing the item you wish to
follow up on. Or you can choose "switch threads", and then start a
new topic.
This will leave a brief message in the original thread as to what
the new one is called.
If you want to start a new topic, unrelated to previous postings, you
should do so from the main screen.
Don't use Back button
While you are in the discussion board - i.e. after you have logged in
to the discussion board, and before you have logged out - you should
not use Netscape's "Back" button. All navigation in the discussion
board should use the special discussion board buttons. If you do
inadvertently use the back button, you'll find that you are likely to
get a message saying you don't have authorisation, and you need to
login. In this case just vlick login and log in again.
Post as html instead of plain text
It is possible to post your message in html format. This allows you to
include a hypertext link or picture, or simply
spruce up your message with bold, larger fonts, or other editing. To do this,
click on the list box which says 'text' at the right of the summary line (above
the message box) and choose 'html.' While the system will ensure that all tags
are closed, only users who are familiar with html should choose this option.
